Closet Organization: Makeup

Organization is key in my life.  Frankly, it is more of an obsession, and my organizational OCD is kicked into high gear when things aren't in their proper places.  For the sake of sanity (mine and the hubby's), I spend a little time everyday keeping things neat and organized.

The hubby and I get to share a space-challenged closet.  This is a challenge I doubt I'll be able to solve, so I am always trying to figure out how to make the best use of the little space we have.  Even getting the hubby to move his stuff somewhere else, like an upstairs closet, may or may not have been discussed.  Anyway, I digress.  I have shared before how I keep my shoeshandbags and accessories accessible and organized.  My shoe display is by far my favorite feature in the closet, followed closely by the fuchsia boxes holding my accessories.  I recently attempted a change in the handbag storage front but it wasn't the improvement I was looking for so I quickly returned them to their baskets.  Until recently, I also really liked the Sephora case where I stored my makeup.  And I still do, it neatly contained everything I own but it didn't make it very easy for me to see or find anything specifically.

Because I am still new at this blogging thing, I obviously forgot to take a picture while the stuff was still in the case.  But you get the point, it was hard to see everything in there, take my word for it.  I searched high and low for other options, and given the aforementioned lack of closet space, it needed to be something that kept all those beauty items easily accessible without taking so much space. Enter the Muji acrylic cases.  I visited the store while traveling last year, but at the time, nothing really caught my eye.  I guess I didn't look well.  I came across them online and after some careful measurements, I ordered the 2 drawer and 5 drawer options.

And again, I forgot to take a picture of the cases prior to filling them.  I was a little hesitant, thinking they may not provide enough storage or not be easily stackable, but I was pleasantly surprised when they turned out to be perfect.  I love them and how easy it is to see and find everything.  I don't get to open and close them every day, after all, the daily makeup must haves are (neatly) stored in my bathroom counter drawer, but I am definitely pleased with how they stack on each other, saving space without compromising stability.  And while I was reading the online reviews, I discovered they have a similar look to what the Kardashian sisters use to store their beauty must haves (you know it's a lot of them) without the hefty price tag.  Now if only I could also get their closets.

What improvements have you made in your organization?  How do you maximize your closet space?  I'd love to read or see your ideas.

Happy Wednesday!
